It was held at the very same place where Brian and I were married over 22 years ago, which evoked a lot of memories. We had a very simple wedding and reception, and the ladies of the church did so much of the work - the decorating, singing and playing the music, making sure everything was where it was supposed to be, etc. And the fellas helped set up the sound system and the chairs, and then switched the room around for the reception. I've always been, and still am, so grateful for all the help and support of our church family on our special day.
Sunday, I got to be a church lady!!! (well, I suppose technically I'm always a church lady, but...) I was able to help out with set up and decorating and food... It was wonderful! I always remember how much it meant to me that the women of the church would put so much effort into making our day so special, and I'm so thankful that I can now help in that same way! (Brian and I were able to help out last summer at a wedding, also, and it was grand!)
It's wonderful to be able to pass on that heritage of service and support. I know that I still look back at our wedding day and remember all those who helped make our special day even more special. And I'm sure that the young couples whose recent weddings have been filled with help from church ladies and fellas will also always remember that. And that they'll do the same when their turn comes, and they'll take pride in being a "church lady" (or a church fella!).
