Our entire adoption journey has been a constant reminder of our own adoption into God's Family.
Through all the paperwork, we were reminded of how much effort and forethought God has put into His great plan to bring us all into His Family.
The yearning and hope in our hearts has brought into perspective the yearning and hope that God must feel every day, as He longs for the day we can become his actual, spiritual sons and daughters.
The months and years of waiting have been an insight into the decades and centuries and millenia that God has waited patiently for the great day to finally come, when He can welcome us into His Family.
God can't wait to grow His Family, just like we are anxiously waiting for the day our son is finally home with us! He wants so desperately for us to be his sons and daughters that He made our adoption possible by Christ's willing sacrifice. Nothing we could ever sacrifice in the pursuit of our son's adoption could ever come close to that, but I feel that we have gained a little more understanding through the process.
And today I came across a quote about the adopted child. It struck such a chord with me that I immediately had to send it to Brian. And I wanted to share it here with you all. It so accurately describes our adoption journey, and I feel that it also depicts, to a certain extent, God's adoption "journey" with us.
"An adopted child is not an unwanted child; to the contrary. They are a child who was searched for, prayed for, cried for, begged for; received by arms that ached, making empty hearts full." ~Author Unknown
